Increasing Financial Accessibility for all youth athletes to include Low-Income, multi-child and any other families needing assistance, in participating in youth sports leagues in Oakland, Wayne, and Macomb Counties.
In 2020, Bounce Back Sports (BBS) emerged as a beacon of hope and inclusivity, founded by a dedicated collective of individuals—parents, coaches, and military veterans—united by a shared vision. This visionary group recognized the financial barriers that hindered many families from participating in youth sports, acknowledging that numerous children were unable to afford registration fees. It was against the backdrop of the 2019 pandemic that Bounce Back Sports embarked on its mission.
While the name Bounce Back Sports became official in 2020, the organization's roots trace back to the 2018 pilot program known as Next Level Sportz. This early initiative served as the foundational step, allowing the founders to test their ideas, refine their approach, and lay the groundwork for what would evolve into Bounce Back Sports.
As Bounce Back Sports continues to evolve, the organization remains rooted in its dedication to providing opportunities for all children, regardless of financial constraints. The journey from Next Level Sportz to Bounce Back Sports symbolizes a commitment to growth, inclusivity, and making a lasting positive impact on the lives of young athletes. The story is still unfolding, with each season bringing new opportunities to inspire, empower, and uplift the community through the transformative power of sports.
Bounce Back Sports offers year-round opportunities for young athletes to not only improve their skills, but participate in leagues, skills enhancement camps, 7v7 tournaments, and skills showcase events for free or discounted fees. Below is a brief description of each program activity:
1. Youth Flag Football Leagues: BBS collaborates with local schools and community centers to introduce young athletes to flag football through workshops, clinics, and an inclusive league of various age groups and skill levels. Leagues are held three-four times throughout the year and typically run between 7-8 weeks per league.
2. Skill Enhancement Camps: Specialized camps are implemented to focus on fundamental skills of football and are taught by experienced coaches and current/former players. Informational sessions are held for families to educate them on the multiple benefits of participating in youth sports. After-school camps are also available to further engage students on a consistent basis.
3. High school 7v7 Football: Specialized training sessions focus on position-specific skills, tactical awareness, and game strategy and are taught by experienced coaches or former players to lead high-intensity training drills and National tournaments. This program provides academic resources to students to ensure athletes are balancing their school work with after-school programming.
4. Skill Showcase Events: Events that are held to showcase individual player skills, allowing athletes to demonstrate their capabilities to college recruiters. This also gives scouts and recruiters the opportunity to work with young athletes to create personal profiles and highlight reels for recruitment purposes.
